The draw for the round of 16 of the Champions League has given its verdict. This Monday, November 7 in Nyon, Switzerland, headquarters of UEFA, all eyes were turned to Hamit Altintop who proceeded to the draw. The former midfielder had the heavy hand for PSG because the club of the capital will be opposed to Bayern Munich, in which the Turk played between 2007 and 2011.
The Parisians meet the Bavarians
By finishing second in their group behind Benfica because of the difference in goals scored away from home, PSG had every chance of meeting a European champion in the last 16. The drawing of lots has thus reserved Bayern Munich.
An opponent that Kylian Mbappé and his teammates know well for having already faced him eleven times in the most prestigious of European competitions. The Parisians had lost to the Germans in the final of the 2020 edition (0-1). Kingsley Coman was then the executioner of his training club by scoring the only goal of the game with a header and thus offering Bayern Munich its sixth Champions League title.
The following year, Paris took its revenge in the quarter-finals by eliminating the Bavarians thanks to away goals (2-3 in Munich, 0-1 at the Parc des Princes).
For the reunion between the two teams, PSG will host Bayern on February 14 before traveling to Bavaria on March 8.
Liverpool wants revenge against Real Madrid
The draw for the round of 16 also included a clash between the Reds and the Merengues, which is none other than the remake of the last Champions League final. On the pitch of the Stade de France, the Madrilenians won thanks to a goal by Vinicius Junior (1-0). Four years earlier, in 2018, Real Madrid had already dominated Liverpool (3-1) with a goal by Karim Benzema and a double by Gareth Bale.
