Which draw for PSG ?
The draw for the last 16 of the Champions League will take place on Monday and the opponent of Paris Saint-Germain, which finished second in Group H behind Benfica, will be known. The team led by Christophe Galtier has seven possible opponents: Napoli, Bayern Munich, Chelsea, Manchester City, Porto, Tottenham and Real Madrid.
The most complicated opponents? Bayern Munich, Manchester City and Real Madrid
Bayern Munich, like last season, had a perfect run in the group stage with six wins in six games. The German club scored 18 goals and conceded only two in a group that included Inter Milan and Barcelona. The last time the Munich team didn't get past the round of 16 was in 2011!
Manchester City finished the group stage with four wins and two draws, 14 goals scored and two conceded. The English club has been a regular in the finals of the competition in recent years and has not been eliminated in the round of 16 since 2017 against AS Monaco.
Real Madrid has a record of four wins, one draw and one loss in Group F. The defending champions have scored 15 goals and conceded six. Carlo Ancelotti's men still have a shaky defense but have more attacking options than last season. Moreover, they eliminated the Parisians in the last 16 last season in a memorable scenario.
The tricky opponent? Napoli
Napoli is one of the hottest teams at the beginning of the season. Luciano Spalletti's team is undefeated at the top of Serie A and lost its first game of the season only this week against Liverpool in the last day of the group stage. It is a very complete team with a formidable attack composed of one of the European attractions, the Georgian Kvicha Kvaratskhelia, Victor Osimhen, Matteo Politano, Giacomo Raspadori or Giovanni Simeone. It is the best attack of the Champions League.
The possible draws of the French clubs
In the Europa League, Rennes, Nantes and Monaco each finished second in their group and will therefore face a club that has been relegated from the Champions League, which means that the match-ups will be complicated. The eight potential opponents of the French clubs are: Ajax, FC Barcelona, Juventus, Bayer Leverkusen, Salzburg, FC Sevilla, Shakhtar Donetsk and Sporting Portugal.
